Templates

Fold panels
WriteSimply can detect a folded layout, or you can pick one yourself. Each panel fills the screen, and arrows take you to the previous or next panel. Your writing stays in the right place on the full sheet. When you export, choose printed sheets that are ready to fold, or one panel per page for reading on screen. Prefer the whole page? Switch back to normal reading at any time.

Reopen a document and you return to the last page, or panel, you worked on. Fit always fits the page you are on.
Night paper
Dark modes that invert a document turn your highlights and red ink into the wrong colours. Night paper lowers the brightness of the page to a warm, light tone and darkens everything around it. It only affects the screen. Exports and prints are always on white paper. Choose day paper, night paper, or let it follow your iPad’s appearance setting.

Any iPad that runs iPadOS 16 or later and supports Apple Pencil. WriteSimply works with first-generation Apple Pencil, Apple Pencil (2nd generation), Apple Pencil (USB-C) and Apple Pencil Pro, depending on which models your iPad supports.
Yes, for writing. To prevent accidental marks, fingers are reserved for scrolling, zooming and gestures. You can still open, read and navigate PDFs without a Pencil.
Not at the moment. WriteSimply is designed for iPad and Apple Pencil only.
Portrait keeps the page large and steady while you write. Landscape documents still work: folded landscape sheets open panel by panel, and printing follows the orientation of the original sheet.
Tap Import PDF in WriteSimply and choose a file from the Files app, or share a PDF from another app (such as Mail or Files) to WriteSimply. WriteSimply works on its own copy, so your original file is never changed.
Yes. Tap New folder in the library to create one, and open it to add folders inside it. Press and hold any document or folder to rename, move or duplicate it. New and imported documents go into the folder you have open. When you delete a folder, you choose whether to keep its documents (they move up a level) or delete them too.
Yes. Your ink is saved as you write and stays editable inside WriteSimply, so you can come back and keep working at any time.
Use the export button to create a PDF with your writing flattened onto the page. You can share it, save it to Files or print it. You can choose whether ruled lines on template pages are included and, for folded documents, whether to export printed sheets or one panel per page.
Yes. The original text and graphics in your PDF stay sharp, and your handwriting is added at high resolution (288 dpi).
Yes. You can add steno, engineer’s or blank template pages after the current page or at the end of a document, and you can delete pages. Deleting a page can be undone.
